KIRK DEFFEBACH

Kirk (Yeti) Deffebach was a long time resident of Park City, Utah but now resides in Volcano, Hawai’i. His medium is in acrylics, painting on wood and canvas and anything he can find that looks like fun to add an artist touch to it. Kirk was born in Chaguaramas, Trinidad, British West Indies in 1956, he, with his other brothers and sister, traveled a large part of the world with his father, always visiting museums and art shows.

Influenced by his mothers constant painting and creating, he is a self-taught artist that loves to paint pure abstract that was influenced by his famous abstract artist aunt, Lee Deffebach. Kirk’s feeling about art is that the appreciation of abstract, in any form, from the forties, fifties and early sixties is being lost in the photographic detail of today’s art. To appreciate color and how it has fun with shapes is the essence of true art. When asked, “What is it supposed to be? His reply is, “It’s not supposed to be anything, it’s just color and shape, it’s art!”
